Yeast Infection Remedies - Garlic Cloves to the Rescue!

One of many natural remedies for yeast infection is garlic. It has been used for thousands of years as a natural remedy for a whole range of conditions and ailments and, in modern times, it has been proven to possess powerful antibacterial properties.

It is important to understand that it is the overabundance of the yeast-like fungus called Candida albicans in the body that causes the symptoms of a yeast infection to appear.

And because the fungus particularly likes the warm, dark, moist areas of the body some of the most common infection sites are the vagina, mouth, ears, anus, armpits, under skin folds, nails, etc., with the vagina being by far the most common.

Typical vaginal Candida symptoms are itching, redness, swelling, inflammation, thick white discharge, burning sensation when urinating, difficult / impossible intercourse.

[Note: If you suspect this to be your first yeast infection you must get a proper diagnosis from your doctor / physician before trying any natural yeast infection remedies and discuss such remedies with them first. Even if you have had a Candida infection before it is still best to confirm it with your doctor / physician.]

Now let's proceed to how to use garlic as a natural yeast infection remedy...

For the fastest recovery it is best to use the remedy at the very first signs of a yeast infection. The longer you leave things the more deep-seated the infection will be and the harder to clear.

Take a peeled clove of garlic and insert it into the vagina leaving it in place overnight, removing it in the morning. Then repeat this nightly until the symptoms abate. But it may be prudent to apply the remedy for one or two nights more, just to make sure.

If you prefer to you can wrap the peeled garlic clove inside a piece of soft muslin or cheesecloth leaving a 'tail' showing so that you can remove it more easily, although the remedy is probably more effective without this wrapping.

You can also eat raw garlic to help take care of the bacteria in the gut. Of course this does cause odor issues that puts many people off using this remedy. But if you are in a position where you can do this without offending folks then it is worth it because cooked garlic just doesn't have the same antibacterial properties as raw garlic.

Please note that if you are sensitive to garlic, or you suspect that you are, then you should not use this particular yeast infection remedy. There are many more out there, just do another quick search on the Internet. For example you may wish to try natural yogurt.
